SAYSORRY · LOVE & CONNECTION
Make the message personal
Choose a useful starting point, add the real incident or memory, and make a personal card or message.
Create your personal card ↗A bilingual note works when it matches the way the two people actually speak. Translation should preserve the intention, not copy every idiom or add intimacy that was not present.
What matters in this situation
Translate intention rather than every word. Hindi formality, gendered phrasing and familiar nicknames can change the tone substantially. If you are unsure, choose a simpler line you understand rather than borrowing an elaborate phrase that may say more than you intend.
Plan the message before you send it
Personal support is not measured by how long or moving a message sounds. It is more useful when the recipient can use it without disclosing details, producing gratitude or performing a particular emotion. When helping someone write, preserve their choices and voice rather than replacing them with your preferred story.
1. Choose the language mix you normally use
Identify whose story and decision the message concerns, and keep that person’s privacy central.
2. Keep names and personal memories accurate
Use simple accurate language instead of predictions, comparisons or explanations that the recipient did not ask for.
3. Read the line aloud to check whether it sounds like you
Offer a specific choice where appropriate, and make declining or not replying genuinely acceptable.
Three sample drafts to adapt
These are illustrative drafts, not accounts of real conversations. Use only wording that is true for you. Replace the person, detail and practical arrangement where needed, and leave out any line that would make the message less accurate.
Sample 1
Tumhare saath woh shaam bahut achhi lagi. I would love another walk when you are free.
Before borrowing this wording, check that every remembered detail and practical offer is accurate. Remove anything that belongs to another person’s situation.
Sample 2
Aaj tumhari baat yaad aayi aur smile aa gayi. Thank you for making ordinary days feel warmer.
This is an alternative starting point, not a required second message. Choose it only when it matches what you genuinely want to communicate.
Sample 3
I care about you, aur main chahta hoon ki hum bina pressure apni baat keh saken.
If you combine the drafts, keep the result focused. Repeating the same request in several forms can make a considerate message feel like pressure.
A line to avoid, and a clearer alternative
You mean everything to me, so you have to make time for this.
This version joins affection to an obligation. The revised draft offers a specific thought or invitation without deciding the answer in advance. Warmth becomes more credible when the recipient can respond honestly. Remove any sentence that turns a shared memory, compliment or gift into a debt the other person must repay.
Choose the audience and format carefully
A personal letter or support note can be offered without requesting an immediate response. Ask about access preferences if the recipient may prefer audio, text or another format; do not assume. Keep private drafts and recordings secure, and let the person whose words or story are involved decide whether anything is shared more widely.
Keep this particular risk in mind
Do not claim a literal translation has exactly the same emotional tone in every context.
What to do after the message
Adjust gendered wording and formality to the writer and recipient rather than copying a line blindly.
Give the recipient room to add their perspective. A short answer may be all that fits the moment, and a different preference is useful information rather than a failure of the wording. If you proposed a practical plan, confirm it together instead of treating a warm reaction as agreement to every detail.
